Optical Coherence Tomography Angiographic Assessment of Polycythaemia Vera-Related Retinal Microvascular Morphological Changes: A Cross-Sectional Case-Control Study
نویسندگان
چکیده
Objective: To assess polycythaemia vera (PV)-related retinal microvascular morphological changes using optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA). Material and Methods: In this cross-sectional case-control study, 30 PV patients (Group 1) healthy individuals 2) underwent a comprehensive ophthalmological examination, followed by OCTA acquisition in Angio Retina mode (6x6 mm). Macular superficial deep vascular plexus vessel densities (VDs) foveal, parafoveal, perifoveal, as well foveal avascular zone (FAZ) area, FAZ perimeter, VD 300-µm wide region around (FD-300) were automatically analysed AngioVue Analytics software. Sequential measurements compared for statistical significance. Results: Mean ages 46.97±3.20 47.42±2.55 years Groups 1 2, respectively (p=0.350). Group had significantly increased than 2 (p=0.032). Besides, non-significantly VDs the following areas: whole (p=0.468), parafoveal (p=0.692), (p=0.752), perifoveal (p=0.369), perimeter (p=0.209), FD-300 (p=0.914). The area decreased to (p=0.529). Conclusion: appears be associated with considerable changes, indicating potential hyperviscosity impact on that would necessitate careful consideration during patient evaluation.

A Morphological Study of Retinal Changes in Unilateral Amblyopia Using Optical Coherence Tomography Image Segmentation
OBJECTIVE The purpose of this study was to evaluate the possible structural changes of the macula in patients with unilateral amblyopia using optical coherence tomography (OCT) image segmentation. PATIENTS AND METHODS 38 consecutive patients (16 male; mean age 32.4±17.6 years; range 6-67 years) with unilateral amblyopia were involved in this study. OCT examinations were performed with a time-...
متن کاملRetinal assessment using optical coherence tomography.
Over the 15 years since the original description, optical coherence tomography (OCT) has become one of the key diagnostic technologies in the ophthalmic subspecialty areas of retinal diseases and glaucoma. The reason for the widespread adoption of this technology originates from at least two properties of the OCT results: on the one hand, the results are accessible to the non-specialist where m...

PURPOSE To report 3 cases of neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1) with choroidal nodules associated with retinal microvascular changes imaged with optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA). METHODS Small case series in 3 NF1 patients. OCTA examinations were performed by a trained examiner (J.J.) after pupillary dilation. A standard scan, centered over the macula measuring 6 × 6 mm and 3 × 3 m...
متن کاملRetinal microvascular alterations related to diabetes assessed by optical coherence tomography angiography
Fluorescein angiography has been so far the gold-standard test to assess diabetic macular ischemia (DMI), a cause of irreversible visual impairment in diabetic patients. The aim of this study was to investigate foveal avascular zone (FAZ) and perifoveal microcirculation changes in eyes with nonproliferative diabetic retinopathy (NPDR) using optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA), a new...
متن کاملSpeckle Noise Reduction for the Enhancement of Retinal Layers in Optical Coherence Tomography Images
Introduction One of the most important pre-processing steps in optical coherence tomography (OCT) is reducing speckle noise, resulting from multiple scattering of tissues, which degrades the quality of OCT images. Materials and Methods The present study focused on speckle noise reduction and edge detection techniques. Statistical filters with different masks and noise variances were applied on ...
